I did it, I ran a 10k! I won! Basically because I ran a 5k (which I didn't win) and then at the finish line I turned around and ran the course again, finishing 6.2 miles in 67:25! I'm a winner!

What its all about
I have always struggled with my weight. Ok, so maybe not always, I don't think I really worried about it as an infant or a toddler, but I vividly remember being 10 years old and having a friend tell me I was fat. Why? Because I weighed more than she did. Did it matter that I was 6 inches taller than her? No. Two years later I felt fat again, for some reason our PE teacher thought it would be a good idea to weigh each one of us in front of the entire class. At the time I was 5'4" and I weighed 112 pounds. I thought I was fat because I weighed more than the other girls. I didn't even think that it could be because I was taller than them. I know now that Bigger andTaller does not equal Fat, but no one bothered to tell me then, if they did I wasn't paying attention.
It's 20 years later and I now see how prophetic my thinking was. Now I really am Fat, I admit it, but I have a plan and I have hope.
I am going to run. I cannot run back through time and find that little girl and tell her how beautiful she is, how very normal she is. But I can run towards good health. I have a storng family history of Type 2 Diabetes and I have had more than a few Doctors tell me that if I can just lose weight, and keep it off, I can postpone the onset of the disease. I don't want to be sick. I want to live. I want to be me, a wife, a mother, a friend, a daughter and a sister.
I started this blog because I needed a place to vent about the struggles of losing weight and I decided that this is that place. If it works for me, if it helps me to be honest with myself and if in the end I lose weight and gain health then I will consider this blog a success. If you read it and it helps you, even better! I hope that you laugh with me and learn with me as I run down this road.

- I am a Mother of 4 and I love it. But as you may well be able to see, or read, I have no idea what I am doing. Luckily I have lots of love for my children, and lots of love from my husband and our families, and with this much love I can't go too wrong.
